"Acupuncture and cupping, more than half of the ills cured" Zhao Xue Ming, Qing Dynasty

What is Cupping?

Cupping is an ancient form of physical therapy seen in many medical traditions, both Chinese and Occidental. Cupping employs a form of suction cup, strategically applied to the skin to help to break up and move stagnation in the system. Cupping can be seen to improve blood flow and to encourage the free movement of organic liquids, lymph and energy in the body.

Effects of Cupping: Reduce pain • Increase blood circulation • Activate the lymphatic system • Clear colon blockages • Activate the skin metabolism • Clear stretch marks • Improve varicose veins

Cupping is one of the most effective and oldest ways of releasing toxins from the body.

A safe non-invasive therapy which uses the meridian system of chinese medicine in the same way as acupuncture.

Cupping is a great therapy to target deep-tissue as it can target tissue up to four inches from skin level. Toxins and congestion can be released, and blood flow can be refreshed within the immediate and surrounding areas, which allows the global system to circulate more efficiently.

Often combined with acupuncture in one treatment, Cupping can relax muscles, help lower blood pressure by relaxing the nervous system, increase blood circulation and lymph function.

The lymph system filters bacteria, generates antibodies and also preserves the fluid balance throughout the body. Lymph circulation relies purely on the movement of the body, through exercise, breathing and external pressure such as massage or cupping, to collect and transport toxic substances out of the body and to allow the free flow of fresh lymph which nourishes the tissues and boost our immune system.

Cupping is often used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, migraines, rheumatism, anxiety and fatigue. It’s also a good treatment to clear congestion from a common cold or help to improve the symptoms of asthma.

  • I had weekly acupuncture over four weeks combined with Chinese herbs. The treatment itself was really relaxing, Darren has a very calming manner and immediately puts you at ease. I felt lovely for the rest of the evening following acupuncture and generally was a lot less stressed. The result, I am happy to say, is that I got pregnant that month. I am now 15 weeks pregnant and this has been an extremely easy pregnancy (I had a lot of bleeding with my last one). I would highly recommend Darren to anyone who is interested in fertility acupuncture. It was a lovely experience and, fortunately for me, a lovely outcome.

  • I cannot recommend Darren highly enough. He is caring, kind and professional. We were about to have an appointment for IVF but didnt need to! Without going into lots of personal details, Darren correctly located the problem without me having been specific and we conceived the next month & have a wonderful baby girl x.

  • My partner and I had been trying for a baby for just over a year and were starting to consider IVF. A friend recommended that we’d go and see Darren and I am very pleased to say that after 3 months I was pregnant with our baby boy now 18 months. We are so very grateful to Darren for helping us and would recommend him warmly to anybody.
