What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a holistic therapy which aims to return a patient to a healthy balance through stimulation of acupuncture points distributed around the body. With its origins dating back over 2000 years, acupuncture techniques have been refined and perfected through centuries of clinical practice. Virtually painless and without negative side effects, it can safely and effectively treat a wide range of physical, mental and emotional conditions.

Acupuncture stimulates specific points located along the body’s meridians. These pathways permeate our body, connecting and interacting with one another to ensure the stability of our body function and to maintain our health.

Factors such emotional stress, injury, poor diet and lack of exercise all lead to imbalances, disrupting the free flow of blood, organic fluids and information along the body’s pathways. When there is a blockage the body gets out of balance, levels of body function are reduced, and illness can follow.

In an acupuncture treatment, we diagnose the imbalance holistically, taking account of the performance of the whole system. Using ultra-fine single use sterile needles, we gently stimulate the indicated acupuncture points, prompting a movement and rebalancing of the body and its functions.

An effective acupuncture treatment is virtually painless and will rapidly relieve acute symptoms: reducing pain, stress and the severity of effects experienced. Alongside symptomatic relief we work to address the root of the imbalance, supporting the body through the process it needs to return to health.

We recognise everyone is unique, and the number of treatments required to achieve optimum health or permanently resolve symptoms depends on the length, severity and nature of the imbalance experienced. Our Clinics in W1, SW1 and N16 are easily accessible with a range of appointment times to fit into your lifestyle. All consultations offer a bespoke treatment plan to meet your needs.

  • I had weekly acupuncture over four weeks combined with Chinese herbs. The treatment itself was really relaxing, Darren has a very calming manner and immediately puts you at ease. I felt lovely for the rest of the evening following acupuncture and generally was a lot less stressed. The result, I am happy to say, is that I got pregnant that month. I am now 15 weeks pregnant and this has been an extremely easy pregnancy (I had a lot of bleeding with my last one). I would highly recommend Darren to anyone who is interested in fertility acupuncture. It was a lovely experience and, fortunately for me, a lovely outcome.

  • I cannot recommend Darren highly enough. He is caring, kind and professional. We were about to have an appointment for IVF but didnt need to! Without going into lots of personal details, Darren correctly located the problem without me having been specific and we conceived the next month & have a wonderful baby girl x.

  • My partner and I had been trying for a baby for just over a year and were starting to consider IVF. A friend recommended that we’d go and see Darren and I am very pleased to say that after 3 months I was pregnant with our baby boy now 18 months. We are so very grateful to Darren for helping us and would recommend him warmly to anybody.
